chaos

From 1995 through 1997, I had the privilege of photographing some of the great minds on the planet who were either in residence or were visiting scientists at the Santa Fe Institute. Whether the field of expertise was economics, chemistry, biology, math or any number of other subjects, these individuals were working on chaos theory.  There are several explanations or definitions of chaos theory but, this statement, from the Fractal Foundation, says it all in very few words:

"Chaos theory is the science of surprises, of the nonlinear and the unpredictable."

it seems particularly applicable to not only the political situation in the United States, but to the income tax system.  Many people have expressed their frustration and hatred of this time of year specifically due to having to file their income taxes.  So here is my photographic nod to the chaos of income taxes.

chaoschaos Best of luck!

Thanks, Steve! It was fun doing this sort of setup.

I like the yellowed black and white. Very photojournalistic not to mention somber but for the spilled coffee on the tax form. That's hilarious. And "Chaos theory is the science of surprises, of the non-linear and the unpredictable" sounds a lot like life.
