thankful

There was a reason other than automobile and mattress sales for the Thanksgiving holiday.  Celebrated in America and around the world, it was originally a day set aside to celebrate the bounty of the harvest.  I like the idea of Thanksgiving because you do not need to be of a particular religious or cultural background to partake.  It is a simple concept, one that is easy to honor with food and friends and family.  The table needn't be groaning under the weight of massive amounts and varied foods, although many tables will be and that can be spectacular, but sometimes, simple is good.  Nothing more straightforward than a good slice of homemade bread slathered with butter and a cup of tea or coffee.

My thanks this week to Barbara F. R., TTT, Lisa, Terry T., Pauli, Jean & Sam, Catherine, Christina, Steve, and Wayne.  I am thankful for all who are so steadfast in reading my blog every Monday, for simple food, conversation, a roof over my head, laughter and love, Fred, friends and family, and Planet Earth.  Each precious and essential.  I hope your Thanksgiving week is filled with everything you need!

until next Monday,

DB

Thanks, no pun intended, for your simplified take on Thanksgiving. We should treasure the wonders we savor every day as much as the grand Thanksgiving dinner, fresh baked bread, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and Peggy's Pot Roast or Tart Tatin.

A Happy Thanksgiving to you and Fred.

Who burned the toast?? I do love the sentiment of simplicity. Sometimes I relish a cup o' tea and a seat at the window. It is perfection.
